DML: M48A3

Post  The Zod on Tue May 07, 2013 2:44 pm

From the Perth site.

This blew me away. I honestly did not expect this from DML. I know AFV Club will be releasing an M48A3 as well. Most M48A3's had a searchlight on it. So I have no idea if the DML version will be correct. There is a possibility some did not have them.

Hi Zod

I can't help but wonder if this isn't a spoiler against the AFVC kit, which is probably more likely to appear.

The big mistake with the Dragon kit , no mantlet cover over the main gun ! This is why the company needs to A) take notice of their box artist who in Ron Volstad obviously knows the subject much better than them and b) look at every period photo of them . Not one vehicle served without this as they waterproofed/dust proofed the vehicle , it served in the tropics ! The AFV club vehicle will have this cover and will be a much better example .Not based on some delapidated museum example !

I have to say that AFVC (along with Bronco) is currently my first choice when it comes to new stuff.

But at this point (assuming of course that both AFV Club and Dragon actually release these kits) I am just happy having choices beyond the truly ancient Tamiya offering. I am certain that I could scratchbuild a mantlet cover myself. And I have seen LOTS of M-48A3s without a searchlight. Besides. This really just means that we also are going to get some real neato resin update sets too What a Face .

Great to see these from AFV and DML, no doubt the answer to many prayers and wish lists.

Shalom Jenny.

At last! A new M-48 that's decent. Another vehicle to convert to an Israeil tank.

I hope that neither AFV Club nor Dragon make the mistake Tamiya did on the suspension (too high) because the engine was removed from the tank they used for measurements.

Lots of stuff coming out in styrene for us who like Israeli Defense stuff.

Cheers
