Hi there. How ya'll doin?

I just about have the construction finished. And it is mostly all polished up and ready for my first layer of white before I do the bare metal layers. And seeing as to this point I believe it is a total of 14 parts, the build part went pretty fast What a Face .

I put a set of home made seat belts that will be more than good enough when seen through the thick murkey canopy piece.

And a very basic instrument panel and gunsight that also will be more than enough for me through a closed canopy.

And just to give myself something to do, I decided to put about a bazillion rivets all over the thing. Thinking it will show up with the eventual shiney metal finish it will get What a Face .

That is it for now. Next I will put the landing gear , wheels, and landing gear bay covers together and get them painted. Then do the paint job and after that, put the landing gear on. Then it is just the decals and I will be done. Hopefully I can do all that in about a week and a half or two weeks.

Looking good Gary.
How long did it take to do all the rivets? What paint are you using for the metal finish?

Hi everyone:

John, I wasn't really to concerned with perfectly straight or anything like that, so it took me two nights with a new X-acto blade and the Led Zeppelin two disc set and it was done. And I am going to be using the Testors Model Master buffing aluminum plate and their burnt metal for the engine area.

And now I have it ready to put the metalizers on, then it will be a real quick buff out before a clear top coat and the decals. Then a real quick and dirty wash to pop all those rivets and it will be done.

I will be putting the metal colors on later this evening, and I hope to be able to put up some piccys to show if it worked or not Suspect . We will see if it works, or if it is a total mess.

Hi again everybody:

It is I think one of the very few things that is nice about living in south west Arizona. I can paint something and the paint goes from wet, to dry, to hard in about an hour and a half What a Face. And that is the only reason that I was able to do these steps in the paint job so quick. So now it has it's basic shiney bare metal finish. Next comes the diffrent tones around the engine.

And then after a first very preliminary buffing so I can handle it without having everything else I touch end up with a coat of silver fingerprints all over it Wink .

Tomorrow I should be able to seal this coat in and then mask for the burnt metal layer around the back end of the thing Very Happy .

Well she is starting to be all grown up, and is standind on her own three feet now Wink . I am not really to happy with the rear fuselage, as I think it came out to dark, but it is to late to do anything about that now I think. So tonight I will see if I can get some of the decals on along with a little bit of the detail painting for the landing gear and finishing up the cockpit before I put the canopy on.

I plan Suspect on posting more photos tonight after I do some decals. So we shall see what is what.

Thank you everyone Very Happy .

I am going to put in about 3 or 4 hours on it and finish it tonight, just before midnight and the deadline What a Face . It may not be of super detail quality, but I had a heck of a lot of fun putting it together and relearning lots of things about bare metal finishes again Wink .

Well it is after 12:00 midnight. But that is only because photobucket was being photobucket Suspect .
I have actually finished it, and here it is. What a Face

This is the part that always worrys me. The bit where I have to start the weathering with a wash to highlight the seams and all those thousands of rivets that I did.

I should sometime clean up that white and black whatever it is on the end. Other than that, I am happy with it.

It looks nice being all finished What a Face
