Vietnam V-100 decals coming from Squadron.

Post  Dman on Fri Jan 02, 2009 5:46 am

A new sheet of decals for the HobbyBoss 1/35 scale M706/V100 armored car will be released in the next few weeks from Eagle Strike.

The sheet features enough markings for eight different actual vehicles and enough extra decals to build several generic Vietnam V100's and full color illustrated instructions.

Jan - Feb '09

They are at the printers now and will be released officially in late January or February '09.

We ended up with enough color photo reference to do several more sheets, it will probably depend on how well the first one sells.

Cool!

I'd like a set of these to include with my Review of Hobby Boss' kit over at Armorama.com. I wonder if I can delay the Review long enough to get a hold of a sheet...

Yep

Post  Dman on Tue Jan 13, 2009 1:53 am

They are correct, remember these are the original wheels and tires designed by CG especially for the V100 (given exclusively to the South Vietnamese at first, later U.S. Forces borrowed some of them from them) and not the later replacement pattern tires used late in Vietnam by the U.S. issued V100s.

We do have two more styles designed, but I don't know if they will ever be released yet.

Slim Usage

Post  Dman on Tue Jan 13, 2009 4:29 am

They were used on post Vietnam variants such as the Philippines version that featured the AAV7 style turret and the Saudi Desert Storm variant. I don't know if we could sell enough of either to make them a viable product.

Very narrow niche

Post  Dman on Tue Jan 13, 2009 4:52 am

There will definitely be a few diehards that will want them, but we'll have to wait and see how the other V100 based kits sell (V150 etc).

Since we are the exclusive importer and distributor for these kits, we will be able to verify the sales numbers in total and then see if there are enough kit sales to warrant the new wheels/tires.

Yes MMD/Squadron may be the importer, they do not have the sales reports for the entire globe, after all the US is one of the smaller markets. So the decals/tires could be a good seller world wide.

But on the other hand it is an eclectic item.

Hi Guys

Which V150 version by HB is correct for Saudi 1991 Gulf War model, but I am recalling we are still missing those agressive tyres yet for it.

There were a few different patterns of tires used by the Saudi's during the first gulf way, I do have some images that I liberated from another site that I can send to you if needed?
