Dragons Stug IV early photos

Post  G Cooper on Sat Aug 15, 2009 2:48 am

Is Dragon showing us the first in another series of vehicles with the Stug IV ? I hope so as these pics look sooooooo good. If they keep improving they may actually release a kit that I will be able to do totaly out of the box without rebuilding or adding anything Shocked

Of course there is always the problem of the aftermarket people that tempt me so badly Wink
But there is still no word on my Ostwind Sad Ohh well. I guess I will just have to live off these other beautiful kits until that happens Very Happy .

Yeah I saw that review Very Happy . I really liked the idea of the blind bolts. It would make things so much easier if all the other PE manufacturers did something like that. It drives me crazy What a Face trying to take off the attatchment burrs on a photo etch nut that is about as big as a fleas eye Shocked . But until then there are always Grant Line I love you nuts and bolts.

Hi,

Here are the photos a little larger although I still had to resize them from 3580x1748 to 800x600

I'm looking forward this, especially now that the StuG IV in poland is finally running after more than 60 years cheers

Here for Jenny, the welds around the cupola Smile

Notger

absolutely sweet looking model be zimmereted? As an early that would place it in zimmerit time I think. Can someone clarify this. Its a great looking kit and I can't wait to get one. I saw your review on P.M.M.S Jenny do you think you could convert the brackets for the Pz IV to ones for a Stug IV or are they the same. I know from experience with Aber brackets that it is difficult to do. Look forward to this kit. Thanks. Dean

Hiya Deano ,

I think that the brackets shown are of a different style to the H & J type which were simpler , for example the Stugs had double thickness Schutzen around the superstructure & it is higher in profile as it covers the superstructure . As well as that the early pattern schutzen had a double lower fitting as you can see in Notgers pictures , this was so the schutzen could be spaced further out when using either ostketten or winterketten tracks which made the tracks the same width as a panthers .

I am pretty sure you are right with the Zimmerit , Notger could explain better if it should have it & why it was omitted , as he is part of the Dragon Research & development team Very Happy !

Hi Deano,

I have nothing to add to Jenny's comment Smile This StuG IV Early needs Zimmerit.
Just for fun, search for "StuG IV" at youtube and enjoy the sound of the running StuG IV in Poland... cheers It's really fantastic what these guys did for a awesome job!
