LIFECOLOR paints in Australia

Post  Jenny Ryan on Mon Jul 27, 2009 12:39 pm

This is just a heads up to all Aussie TnT'ers that Frontline Hobby have apparently just got a reorder of Lifecolor paints again , being that they are hard to get in Australia & that Frontline were out of some colors , I just wanted to let the TnT members pick over them first Wink .

Just a reminder , the paints are way cheaper buying them individually rather than buying the box sets .

Hmmmmmm Rolling Eyes while you are ordering , ask them to order UA 225 to UA 230 (british armour colours (You are going to build a Matilda aren't you ?)) and UA 419 to 430 US uniform colours Very Happy !

Metro in Box Hill (VIC) also stock Lifecolor. Although they only appear to have the box sets in the shop, they do say they can get the loose bottles/pots as well.

Hi Jenny,

There is a company in Melbourne who do life colour paints

the Modellers choice.
http://www.themodellerschoice.com/

I'll hopefully be getting more paints off them when they get to Brisbane in 3 weeks for QMHE comp.

Good prices as well for individaul paints .

Cheers

Well Glenn ,

Lifecolour is my new favourite paint . they airbrush really well , they cover well & I seem to be able to spray finer consistant lines with no overspray . I am also using the Flesh colours , they are very good brushably with no brush strokes either . I use Tamiya Acrylic thinner (do not use Laquer thinner as the paint congeals) which is a bit cheaper than the Lifecolor thinner .

Jenny,

If you have had experience with Vallejo Model Colour how would you compare the Lifecolour range against them? While using the lifecolour by brush for details I would be looking at them more from an airbrush point of view.

I am asking as I have been hearing numerous glowing reports on them and would be interested in giving them a tryout and at this point VMC is my go to range. (Although I airbrush Tamiya).

As a figure painter I have the entire ranges of VMC, VGC, P3 and Citadel. I am also in the process of completing my Tamiya acrylic collection and have some Vallejo Air and Alcohol Metallics. I list all of the above so you can see I don't need something else just for the sake of it but I would try Lifecolour out in a heartbeat if it could improve on what I already have.

Well Jo ,

I have been using the Lifecolor range almost exclusively to airbrush my vehicles & I also am using them more regularly for brush painting as well , they IMHO airbrush as well as Tamiya , they dry dead flat . The gloss white I also used for the missiles on my gainful & being my first gloss airbrush experience they were tremendous .

For brush painting they are great and even mix well with Vallejo which I use mostly . I have painted the flesh tones of the figures in my Marder II diorama (see Xtremely little but lethal group build) with the new flesh colours of the Lifecolor range , consisting of two base colors , two shadow colors & two highlight colors & am very happy with the finish .

I hope this helps

Thanks for that reply Jenny. I might give them a try before I buy any more Tamiya if they airbrush just as well.
