Laura -

Really coming along outstandingly. The details are so very well done, it is a shame that any of them won't be seen. Anxios to see this development continue. From the expression on your figure, he's anxiously anticipating also. great work.

funny how a kit can slap you in the face! Rolling Eyes

the reincarnation of the interior!

i didn't want to use the tamiya spare tracks and their holders so i took the tristar pe, my remaining mk track links and glued them in the place the tristar instructions tell but as tristar isn't tamiya the spare track didn't fit in place. as i had cut away the two bolts as per tristar instructions i now have to live with that flaw!

then i had severe fitting problems with both fenders due to the dml glacis plate yesterday and today i noticed that the LHS fender had forced the already settled glacis up, now it is crooked ... seems like i will have to rip it away again tomorrow!

the tools are a mixture of tamiya and dml ... originally i wanted to use the dml pe tool box but strangely it doesn't fit in place although both, tamiya and dml boxes are of the very same size ... well - i took the tamiya one to save me some nerves!

then i had a good laugh when i took the bag with the dml roadwheels to dryfit them (wanted to see the vehicle on wheels) - what was inside that bag? the sprue with the dml clear parts for the glass blocks, so i had to open the interior, ripped the glass blocks out, painted the new ones and with a lot of seaman language fiddled them in

one thing i always do when i see the chance is to add a length of H0 gauge brass chain ... that gives every vehicle a considerable upgrade! it's that shiny tiny thingything on the center tow hook! i drilled two 0,1mm holes, inserted copper wire and then glued the chain in place (i think three or four times, including scraping the chain off my finger at least two times! Rolling Eyes )

and there the marder stands now:

jenny, luiz - it makes me happy that you enjoy this build! your comments keep me driving forward! Smile

my war continued! i ripped the glacis out again and trimmed it a little bit - no easy task since my mood was grounded this morning even before my coffee and left me quite aggressive! and while i had the marder open again i modified the ammo bins, lengthened them to size so that a 75mm round would fit - it will be almost invisible after completion but if i hadn't done that a nasty emptyness could be seen so it was a decision between pestilence and cholera! Rolling Eyes

Hey Laura

Post  Bob Letterman on Thu Jan 22, 2009 8:03 pm

I've only been on this site for 2 months, and I still can't get over the quality of work from both you and Jenny. The work from the guys are, of course, also excellent, but in my life of modeling, I have seen hundreds, maybe thousands of great pieces from males. But to find 2 women as good as the two of you and the only female modelers I have met over the years were figure painters! It is absolutely amazing!!!!!

My baseball cap is off to the both of you!

Laura -

Quality of workmanship is so evident in each update, so much to admire. The details are just outstanding in their execution. A sweet build to be sure. like Jenny, you should be able to do a couple entries at this rate.

grey, plain grey! maybe i can get persuaded to go with yellow or green spots ... stan spooner did a phantastic camo paintjob on his marder -> stan's marder 3

i have never seen such a cool camo but i don't think i will copy his work!

jenny, erik! thanks for your supportive words - they mean a lot to me!

Jenny Croft wrote:Is the green stuff mud texture ?

yepp! as you know what i am up to you know that mud is inevitable!

Jenny Croft wrote:Hey Laura , I thought you were going to keep the figures secret ?

no! i don't keep the figures secret, you received a top secret jenny eyes only preview of the dio setting!

Jenny Croft wrote:Are you going to fill the ammo bins ?

no! they stay empty! i used the eight filling parts provided with the kit (and lost one to low orbit) and will use the four spent shells ... fits better in the desperate dio setting!

soooooooo ... i went mad with the iwata: black, then tamiya panzergrey with black and blue followed by straight tamiya panzergrey (which is far too light but good for highlights)
