Hey! This is turning out to be a great diorama!

I can start to understand the story now.

I can't say that I have see a lot of your work, but this is outshines the rest! All the things you've put in so far are modelled to high standard.

The church, the coffins, the base and the terrain are all inspiring pieces!

Keep it up.

Noel

thanks for the nice words! Very Happy

i'm not satisfied with the groundwork - it's too even ... i have to chisel away some parts and try to remove some earth from several spots ... not to forget to add some stones inside the crates/ground!

unfortunately i most probably won't find time to continue today and tomorrow ... real life has catched me yesterday afternoon and occupies me!

It looks good.......... but you're the maker of this diorama and I suppose when we build, we would have a picture in our minds of what we wish the diorama to look like, and we continue perfecting areas till we are satisfied! I guess it's the art/creativity inside of us urging us to achieve our goals! Very Happy

Do what you think is good, Laura!

the problem is that i have a very certain picture in mind and as soon as it doiesn't come out like what i have in mind i am not satisfied!

slowly we approach the wanted effect ... very slowly - i started to vary the earth tones, painted some small stones, made a pathway and started on the puddle effect i wanted to have (not very good visible!) ... ah yes - AND i started with rubble! Kirlian Camera accompanied me today!

slowly i advance on the long road to go i walk for so long now!

thans for the motivating words that keep me to return to the bench again and again to finally get this one moving! Very Happy

grown tired of all the marshland soldier work i focused on other details! (english version of that song: the peat bog soldiers)

a few little baby steps more! what have i done ... well i almost ruined my iwata ( Rolling Eyes ) since bird sand was blown into the cup although i had the cap on top and a few sand pieces clogged the nozzle! with A LOT of luck i was able to remove the sand from the inside of the ab body (let's hope that no further sand is inside!), i filled the puddle/pond with "water" three times since the first two tries drained away but the third layer stayed where i wanted it to be! ( bounce ) then i reapplied some lichen, glued the organ in place (after some lichen treatment!), glued the coffins in place and started to add some grass to give the ground some variation!

the complete impression where the dio stands now:

one of the coffins in place:

the other coffin:

grass, grass, grass - the long one still has to be trimmed and more will be added:

the puddle/pond - let's hope that when the water is completely dry (hahahaaaa) - it still looks like that (keep my fingers crossed) ... when i succeed i will cover the other two also with further layers:

Aaah Haaa!! I knew it! The corner rectangle window in the base was for the coffin! Cool!

You're doing great, Laura! It's really building up nicely!

The more details you add the better it continues looking!

Looking supoib Laura Very Happy , the groundwork is starting to look real cool .

I was thinking a sickle leaning against the church would look nice . I love the rubble bits near the end of the church !

Re: Ubi Caritas! FINISHED!

thanks for keeping me motivated and the kind words! Very Happy

well ... i added more grass and blended everything together! in reality it looks better than in the pics ... don't we all love digital photography? Rolling Eyes

to raise the flags was the motto of today! i am closing in to the finish line and can do the final steps with the figures! bounce

what angers me is the fact that although i had covered the pond some grass and sand was blown right into the still wet varnish and now i can't get it out anymore - that drove me close to fetch a hatchet and hack everything to tiny pieces! Rolling Eyes
the other problem zone are the two other ponds ... i'll give both of them a last chance and then i will decide if i will cover them with earth or let them as they are!

The grass is looking heaps more lifelike , Hmmmmm a Braille scale tank makes it start to look more like the Cologne cathedral ! Very Happy I love the relief that the tussocks has given to the grass . Have you got any PE leaves ? Or some more variety in plants ?

Everything is blending so well! The puddle looks ok to me from where I'm sitting. Don't cover it!
