Yup, good camo.

Do you just love it when the cleaning session is much much longer than the actual painting one Twisted Evil

-> i prefer mind numbing and pedantic surplus work after every paintjob over facing damage or much more time intensive cleaning more often than needed: Laura's way! (if i didn't clean my airbrushes that pedantic after every paintjob i would have to do this procedure every month and not all three months)

in principle it's an easy procedure:

1) brush out any remaining color!
2) fill the cup with window cleaner then brush out again!
3) add a little bit of undiluted isoprylene, brush out and then carefully wipe out all accessible areas of the airbrush!
4) fill the cup with distilled water and brush out - in case repeat that step!
5) dismount the needle and clean it on a tissue paper with a little bit of undiluted isopropylene!
6) polish needle with clean cloth!
7) leave airbrush unassembled untily everything is completely dry!

soooo ... since i had wanted to apply two shades of green (lighter in the center of the camo lines) and couldn't see my approach very good they came out way thicker than i had intended! -> me no very happy with the outcome! Sad

but anyway i applied the abt. markings with airbrush and when i unmasked the area i noticed that both sides were crooked and on the LHS my badger has spitten an ugly blotch -> me even unhappier! Crying or Very sad

what now? live with it or strip down the two panels? after considerably evaluating both options i decided for the stripping down since with the crooked markings i would never be satisfied even if i closed both eyes! so out the undiluted isopropylene and carefully removing the markings, mix new grey and recover the basecoat and camo this time with my iwata - not forgetting to touch up the rest of the camo -> me much happier! Smile

then i took two of the six abt. markings from my dml dicker max and applied those although my credo is to avoid decals when i have stencils! -> me very happy with the look! Very Happy

please note that these pics were taken immediately after applying the decals without the decal voodoo procedure! that i will do after all markings have been applied! bounce

Yes, you got it! The colors look great!

BTW - I know (because I saw it!) how carefully Laura cleans an airbrush. The special luck - she showed with one of mine. Very Happy

Wonderful recovery Laura; it came out as if nothing ever happened!

That the marking was a little crooked is no problem considering that those things were painted by hand but the paint spattering, that's the real problem. BTW I think those stencils sometimes are a tad bigger than they should; the painted emblem took almost the whole shield. The decal looks more appropriate for this size.

But all that aside, it's looking like a million dollars. You're doing a great job! cheers

I like it , nice subtle camo job , question for ya , .............. I once had a ref pic with a Jagermeister [ sp ? ] insignia on the side of a PZ III [ or was it IV ] , yes the same as on the bottle , have you ever seen this ?
Only reason I'm asking is because of the insignia on the gun shield on your build ................. and I can't find the pic !!!!

you're talking about this insignia glenn:

???

that's the unconfirmed insignia of the 33rd SS-Frw.Gren.Div.!

it indeed looks like the jägermeister logo!

mine is the Pz.Jg.Abt. (Sfl.) 521 - besides StuG Abt. 197 my favorite panzerjäger unit! Very Happy

afaik the 3rd company was equipped with the panzerjäger 1 and company 1 had both the dicker max and the sturer emil!

btw ... here's an interesting and rare pic of all three ... the surviving max and two brand new emil:

one day i maybe build this as a dio ... one day ... and all three getting the royal treatment! *drool*

Yeper , ........... that's the one , only I think it had a cross or some other symbol between the antlers , and some kind of filigree [ sp ? ] border around the square perimiter of the insignia , looked exactly like the Jagermeister [ sp ? ] label , cept for the symbol between the antlers , ................... personally I'm more of a chilled Baronjager [ sp ? ] drinker , ............ Jagermeister is only good for me if I dump a jigger of it in a tall glass of weissbeer ..................

ok ... number three of my pigment bonanzarama! Rolling Eyes

no much more work ... groundwork construction and at last starting with the max, then blending in to the dio with airbrush!

of course stuff to be placed on the panzerjäger will follow!

Nice work on the pigments Laura. It bring's out the details quite nicely.

Maybe it's just the light on the picture but the weathering on the front shield seem a little more harsh (less blended) than on the sides Question

Just me but I like it where it's not so blended. I could take some pictures of one of my Dad's bulldozers that's been exposed to the elements for some 30+ years, you really see some stark differences in the colors that you can see, it's not the subtle blended colors but stark changes between chipping, red clay mud (we're famous for around here) algae growing (I kid not), hydraulic fluid, fuel/oil/grease and grim...you know what I'm saying.

I think it's more accurate for something that is not cosmetically maintained.

Good point Moonpups. Weathering on such vehicles is rarely what we could call subtle What a Face

My comment was more about the difference between the sides and front of the shield.
