LION MARC Replacement Roadwheels for SA-6 Gainfull & ZSU-23

Post  Jenny Ryan on Tue Dec 02, 2008 9:22 am

Well I am starting work on my Gainfull & the first thing I noticed were how wrong the Trumpeter wheels looked to the references I have studied .

Here you can see what I mean , on the left is the Trumpeter wheel , on the right is the Lion Marc wheel & underneath is the real thing . As you can see the wheel sits inside of the tyre as on the Lion Marc Wheel where the Trumpeter one sits proud of the tyre . The Lion Marc wheel is slightly wider & taller than the trumpeter version & one assumes this is right .

I do not have the Dragon Shilka , it would be interesting if someone can post a picture of the wheel shape for comparison & see if the Lion Marc parts would be a worthwhile investment for this kit .

For the Trumpeter kit , I recommend the Lion Marc replacement Very Happy

Interesting Tom

Well Tom , I guess the hardest pic to see the detail with is the real one ...... The MK & Lion Marc both seem to have a better shape than the other two , I would rate the Trumpeter worst of all four as it has no recess at all , like the other three & the dragon one has too wide a depression .

This is really cool as we can see all four available road wheels in the one summary . Very Happy Thank you for posting the pictures Tom Very Happy

Hi Jenny. Well. I just started the Dragon Shilka. I guess I can put it in, if I get it done in time.
I'm a slow builder, I tend to jump from kit to kit.

Hi Jenny. I will use MK track, Model Point barrels, and Eduard set. This kit will need a lot of work.
All the guns need to be rebuilt.
