Running water

Post  Barrie Hynd on Sun May 03, 2009 2:01 pm

Hi folks,
I know there are quite a few brands out there for making water effects, but what is the easiest and quickest one to use? I want to do a scene with running water for a mountain man scene and i know i will have to practice first so i dont end up ruining the whole thing. Does anyone know of any video tutorials or such like?
Thanks in advance for any help with this.
Barrie.

Got a feeling this should've been put in the "help" section. Sorry, but it is the morning after the night before Embarassed

Barrie,
I used the Woodland Scenics "Realistic Water" and the "water effects" for waves. You can see the results in my post in Figures "The last of the Mohicans.

It is easy to use and is self leveling. Is non-toxic and no mixing. It does shrink when it dries so you will have to fill the area a couple of times. You will have to dam the edges as it is thin and will run over the edges if not blocked. You can put a thin coat of Vaseline on the dam material so that it will not stick to the dams. If your stream is on a slope then tilt the base to get stream bed level before you pour.

I am not familiar with any Video Tutorials but there may be some in the Railroad sections of the Hobby shops.

Hope that this is a little help.
Cheers
